Wanderlust Through My Lens: A Journey in Global Landscapes
By Frank Cardamone
There’s something deeply humbling about standing alone on a cliffside in the Pacific Northwest, watching fog roll over evergreen forests. Or standing in the icy silence of northern Finland as the aurora dances above untouched snow. It’s in those quiet moments, camera in hand, that I remember exactly why I fell in love with photography.
This journey, spanning mountains, fjords, deserts, and coastlines, began not with a business plan but with a simple need for peace. Photography became my therapy. Long before I ever thought of sharing my work with the world, I was just a guy chasing the healing stillness of nature. I found it in the golden-hour glow over the Grand Canyon, in the mirror-like reflections of Norway’s fjords, and in the serene blue light of Arctic mornings.
Every photo I take is born from that feeling. Awe, stillness, gratitude. Whether I'm trekking through the wild landscapes of Utah or braving the snow-covered forests of Lapland, there’s a familiar rhythm to it all. Wake before the sun. Wait patiently in the cold. Watch the sky shift. Listen for silence. And then, when the light hits just right, press the shutter.
Photography has taken me across the globe. But no matter where I go, the same truth remains: nature doesn’t need us, but it invites us. It asks us to slow down. To notice. To appreciate. Through my lens, I try to answer that invitation with reverence and wonder. I’m not trying to manipulate the moment. I just want to preserve what’s already perfect.
I’ve come to believe that landscape photography isn’t just about capturing beauty. It’s about sharing a moment that made you feel small in the best possible way. It’s about inviting others to feel what you felt when the wind whispered through the trees or the light caught the mist just so. And maybe, just maybe, helping someone else find a little peace in that same moment.
As you scroll through the images I share, from the rocky coastlines of Maine to the windswept plateaus of Colorado, from the Arctic Circle to the Appalachian foothills, I hope you feel a bit of that same wonder. I hope these photographs stir something in you. A longing to explore. A memory of a place you love. Or simply a breath of calm in the middle of a busy day. If any of these images speak to you and you’d like to bring a piece of that beauty into your space, I’d be honored.
